What’s Holding You Back?

For many of us there are things that get in the way of our dreams and goals in life. To some, our dreams and goals simply slip out of our reach, and perhaps we think that our children might pick up where we left off. Or, we say to ourselves; “some day when I have money, some day, when my prince comes, or some day, when the children are off to college”. Does some day ever come, or is your some day, today?
Many of my clients tell me they have dreams, goals, and expectations. That is what keeps us motivated, right? So, why do we give up so easily? Is it our past that keeps us stuck, is it our parents, is it others we looked up to that said those crushing words “you can’t do that”. Or, is it all in our own heads? Usually, for most of us, it comes down to that horrible four letter word FEAR.
Fear from being successful. Fear from being financially free. Fear from what others may say. Sometimes when we simply think of fear, our body reacts, our hearts race, we feel overwhelmed, and anxiety or panic begins to set in. Fear is nothing more than False Evidence Appearing Real. If this is all false evidence why are we holding on to fear so tightly, why is it that fear puts a choke hold on us?
What this usually filters down to is the thought “I’m not good enough”. What is that you are not good enough at? The most important question is “who was it that planted that rotten seed into your brain”? Once we have answered these two basic questions, we then must ask, why have you chosen to feed that seed for so many years? When we discover the answers to these questions we can begin a reprogramming process.
Is it possible to change your thoughts, and reprogram your ideas, your goals, your dreams, your beliefs, your values? Hopefully you have answered YES to all of these possibilities, and you are ready to take the first steps to conquering False Evidence Appearing Real in your life.
There are many ways to do this, the most simple start is with affirmations. This can be any positive affirmation as long as you commit to saying it twice a day every day, and preferably say it to yourself in the mirror. This is all about being aware of our thoughts, and taking out the negative and replacing it with positive. What will your affirmation be? I am smart, I am successful, I am good enough. I am my perfect weight. I am disease-free.
Begin nurturing your new thoughts today and as you believe in your affirmation it will manifest!
